Kehr Capsule of the Week: Bugsy Malone (1976)

Once the gimmick wears down, Alan Parker‘s gangster movie cast entirely with prepubescents (1976) isn’t a whole lot of fun. The slapstick owes too much to the Three Stooges, and the Paul Williams score is, well, a Paul Williams score. But it’s at least as violent as four Charles Bronson movies put together, which means the kids should love it. Jodie Foster stars, looking like she’s pushing 30.
